We are delighted to announce that we have been given planning permission to build 21 new, energy-efficient affordable homes in Caerphilly. This will be our first scheme in the area and outside of Torfaen, where we currently own and manage more than 8,000 homes.
An existing property and small outbuildings will be demolished to make way for the new development at Brynhoward Terrace in Oakdale.
The new homes will comprise a mix of 2 and 3 bedroom bungalows, 2, 3 and 4 bedroom houses and 1 bedroom flats, 6 of which will be used for supported housing with 1 available for staff to live on site.
Our construction partner for the build, which is expected to begin in May, is Life Property Group.
Steve Blake, Bron Afon’s Executive Director of Development and Regeneration, said, “We are really excited about bringing a new development to Caerphilly as part of our expansion in delivering more new affordable homes. We are particularly pleased to be working with our new partners Caerphilly Council and Life Property Group and are also grateful to Welsh Government for providing grant funding for the project.”
“In line with our net zero carbon commitment, each home will have Photovoltaic panels on the roof, an A-rated EPC (Energy Performance Certificate) and heating devices to make sure they are very energy efficient. Importantly, this may also mean the tenants will benefit from low energy bills.”
Catherine Love, Bron Afon’s Chief Executive, said, “At Bron Afon, we believe everyone should have a place they are proud to call home. I am delighted we can bring affordable housing to Oakdale, which helps meet a specific demand identified by Caerphilly Council.”
The majority of the new homes will be available to rent from Bron Afon via Caerphilly Council’s Common Housing Register.
