Great team work at our community clear-up in Trevethin

We’d like to say a big thank you to local residents, councillors, officers from Torfaen Council, Fly Tipping Action Wales, Keep Wales Tidy and our very own Repairs and Estates team for helping us out with our recent community clear-up in Trevethin.

We provided skips so residents could get rid of any unwanted items from their gardens. We welcomed everyone to take part in litter picking the area. Our teams gave advice and handed out information leaflets on how to dispose of household waste and recycling correctly.

The weather wasn’t the best but the response was amazing! Residents made good use of the skips and all three were filled literally within the hour.

One volunteer even took a day off from their day job to come along – that is dedication! Everyone who attended was brilliant and made it a very successful community clear up. The day couldn’t have gone as well as it did without all their help.

Cllr Sarah Lang said, “Working with Bron Afon and the community was a highly positive and hugely responsive experience, and a great team effort.

“We want to make sure there is more community involvement, so we can talk to local people and let them have their say in what happens in their area.”

A local resident said, “It’s fantastic.  It would be good to have a skip here twice a year. People do want to make the effort. I have been helping out today.”

Moving forward, we will work with Torfaen Council’s Environmental Health and Waste teams and local councillors to see how we can all come together to tackle issues including rat infestations and rubbish build up in gardens and local spaces and places.
