What goes in the purple bin?

The purple lidded bin is for your household waste that can’t be recycled or composted. Check the list below to find out what you can and can’t put in your purple lidded bin:

Yes Please:

Day-to-day rubbish that cannot be recycled or composted such as:

  • Cold ashes
  • Pet waste
  • Disposable nappies
  • Broken glass
  • Plastic film
  • Polystyrene
  • Wrapping paper

No Thank You:

  • Anything that can be recycled
  • Food waste
  • Garden waste
  • Stones, rubble, soil or building materials
  • Car parts or batteries
  • Oil, paint or chemical
  • Textiles/clothing
  • Tree branches
  • Asbestos-based materials
  • Hot ashes
  • Anything too large to fit comfortably into the bin
  • Clinical waste or hypodermic needles
  • Large glass objects
  • Anything hazardous

Torfaen CBC do not collect extra rubbish left out next to your purple lidded bin, or empty your bin if the lid is left open.
