Making Changes with Bron Afon

We want to provide you with the right information regarding home safety. Offering advice to help you maintain your home while also highlighting our duty of care.

Add/Remove An Occupant

You can ask us to add or remove people from your household during your contract. If you want to add someone, we’ll check if they already have a contract with us. If they do, they can still be added, but they’ll need to give four weeks’ notice on their current home. If they used to have a contract and owe us money, they’ll need to set up a payment plan first. We’ll also check that adding someone won’t make your home overcrowded. If it would, we can’t approve it, but we’ll help you look at options for a bigger place.

Mutual Exchanges

The Mutual Exchange allows two or more contract holders to swap their contracts and their homes. This is a popular way for contract holders to move quickly and easily.

Homeseeker is the UK’s leading mutual exchange service with over 500000 tenants, looking to swap Council and Housing Association homes.

Changing a Joint Contract to a Sole Name

Sometimes a joint contract ends and one person wants to stay in the home on their own. This can happen if one contract holder gives a month’s notice or if a court says one person must be removed from the contract.

Adding Someone to Your Contract

If you’re the only person on a contract, you can ask to add someone else as a joint contract holder. We allow up to four people on one contract. Everyone listed will have equal rights, so it’s important to be sure before applying. If you’re unsure, Citizens Advice can help.

Ending Your Contract

If you want to move out, you need to give us at least four weeks’ written notice. All keys and fobs must be returned to our Llantarnam office by 12pm on your last day. Rent is charged until your contract ends, and if keys are returned late, you’ll be charged daily until we get them. You’ll sign a key receipt when handing them in, and we’ll give you a copy.
