Ty Cyfle in Garndiffaith has eight one-bedroom starter homes for tenants aged 16-24 with support. It is run by our Own 2 Feet Living service.
To live in Ty Cyfle you need to be in education, employment, training or volunteering. New tenants must have the motivation or aspiration to get involved in one or more of these activities.
Our Own 2 Feet Living staff give support to tenants for up to two years by which time they will have the knowledge and skills to be ready to move out and into their own home.
Each flat has the essentials to help tenants run a home for the first time. This includes a cooker, washing machine, bed, sofa, plates, cutlery, toaster and kettle.
The ground floor of Ty Cyfle includes an area for training and learning opportunities. This ‘community connection hub’ is used by us and other partners to help tenants and the local community.
The Own 2 Feet project is run from Ty Cyfle to help young people setting up home for the first time. The sessions cover topics like cooking on a budget, paying bills and how to be a good neighbour.
Young people from anywhere in Torfaen can get involved in Own 2 Feet.
