Thirteen homes across Torfaen that have been empty for an average of five years are being renovated by Bron Afon Community Housing. Once the work has finished it will mean that Bron Afon have ensured that 13 additional affordable homes are available for people to rent.
Already three flats that have been in a state of disrepair for years have been revamped and new tenants have started to move in. No-one has lived in the two bedroom flats in Broad Street, Blaenavon, for many years due to a lack of investment. Now Bron Afon Community Housing has brought the flats back into use. They have been redecorated, and fitted with new heating, kitchens, bathrooms, windows and doors.
Adrian Huckin, Director of Community Housing at Bron Afon, said: “We are pleased to get these flats refurbished and more importantly, actually see the first tenants for many years move in. Bron Afon is currently working on ten other homes that have been vacant for years. This will mean more good quality affordable housing, which is so important for people who want a home with us.”
