Sheltered Housing

Sheltered housing offers independent living backed by professional support. It is living in a safe and secure environment, supported by a friendly high quality service where emphasis is on allowing residents the right to make their own choices in their own home.

Residents have the opportunity to chat to friends or to make use of the social and leisure activities and facilities. Or if they choose, the right to enjoy the quiet and privacy of their own homes.

Sheltered housing is not residential or nursing care - our residents wish to live independently but have the reassurance and peace of mind that is brought through our sheltered housing support service.

The service is backed by an emergency call system connected to a 24 hour control centre so that help can be summoned at any time day or night.  There are 39 sheltered schemes  throughout Torfaen, each offering varying types and sizes of accommodation including flats and bungalows.

Sheltered housing is designed for people over the age of 60, although in certain circumstances younger people may be considered. We also support people with a disability who would benefit from the service.
