Over 1,300 job hunters applied for 74 new jobs at Bron Afon Community Housing. The organisation needs the new staff so it can ensure all of its 8,000 homes in Torfaen meet the standards set by the Welsh Assembly Government before the end of 2012. Forty seven of the jobs were trade staff including plasterers, electricians and carpenters. The other 27 jobs included helpdesk advisors, community housing officers, and surveyors.
There were a total of 1,304 applications.
Duncan Forbes, Chief Executive of Bron Afon, said: “We were overwhelmed by the response. All of the jobs were advertised locally and we also sent a flyer to every one of our tenants. The week leading up to the closing date was so busy with piles of applications arriving by post and email. The next stage of short-listing and interviewing is going to be difficult but we will end up with the best possible candidates for the jobs.”
